Between 266,000 and 450,000 high school students took to the streets across France on Tuesday in what organisers called "act 3" of an ongoing student movement. Classes were disrupted across the country as clashes broke out, with police making 488 arrests.
President Emmanuel Macron called an emergency meeting with ministers at the Elysee Palace in response to the street protests. Demonstrators from Saint-Denis to Paris said they were fighting for improved conditions, with many expressing frustration at current conditions.
